The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) now uses a simplified, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/revenue-agency\/services\/scientific-research-experimental-development-tax-incentive-program\/sred-policies-guidelines\/guidelines-eligibility-work-sred-tax-incentives.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">two-part framework<\/a> to determine eligibility.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-paragraph-2-m-font-size\"><strong>The &#8216;Why&#8217;: Advancement of Scientific or Technological Knowledge.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-paragraph-2-m-font-size\">The core purpose of your work must be to achieve a scientific or technological advancement. This means generating new knowledge or understanding that goes beyond what is currently known in your field. This advancement must be aimed at resolving a scientific or technological uncertainty\u2014a situation where you can&#8217;t determine if a goal can be achieved or how to achieve it based on existing knowledge. The SR&amp;ED program is for projects that genuinely push boundaries, not for those that apply existing knowledge in a routine way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-paragraph-2-m-font-size\"><strong>The &#8216;How&#8217;: Systematic Investigation.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-paragraph-2-m-font-size\">The work must involve a systematic investigation or search, carried out through experiment or analysis. This means you can&#8217;t just stumble upon a solution.
