You should undertake your own research and seek professional advice before making any decisions or relying on the information in this article.<\/i><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<h2 id=\"\"><\/h2>\n<h2 id=\"monthly-tax-deduction-mtd-calculations-and-submission\">Monthly Tax Deduction (MTD) calculations and submission<\/h2>\nEmployers are required to make a <a href=\"https:\/\/employmenthero.com\/my\/glossary\/monthly-tax-deduction-mtd-pcb\/\">monthly tax deduction (MTD)<\/a> directly from an employee\u2019s salary \u2014 it is also referred to as Potongan Cukai Bulanan (PCB).\n\nIt is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hasil.gov.my\/en\/employers\/responsibility-of-employer\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">employer\u2019s responsibility<\/a> to pay this tax amount to the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRBM\/LHDN) on the employee\u2019s behalf, on a monthly basis. It needs to be completed on or before the 15th of the following month.\n\nThe submission of this data is through Form CP39 \u2014 a statement of monthly tax deductions by the employer. It lists all employees and the MTD (monthly tax deductions) that are made on their behalf.\n\nThe data submission through Form CP39 and MTD payments don\u2019t necessarily have to be completed on the same day, but both must be made before the deadline.\n\nFor employers who already utilise payroll software, you can easily generate the Form CP39 report and submit it to the LHDN.\n\nFor employers who don\u2019t use a digital payroll software, you can utilise the <a href=\"https:\/\/ecp39.hasil.gov.my\/login\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">e-CP39 portal<\/a> instead \u2014 it is an alternative method for employers to submit employee MTD data and make online payments.\n\nYou have the option of logging in as a registered or unregistered user. The MTD calculations will be done using the MTD schedular, e-Jadual or MTD Calculator in the portal. Payments can be done via online transactions, or over bank counters.\n<h2 id=\"form-e-and-form-cp8d-submission\">Form E and Form CP8D submission<\/h2>\nForm E is a declaration report and needs to be submitted by employers to the LHDN every year, no later than 31 March.\n\nIt comprises two sections \u2014 Form E, which contains the details of the company (e.g total number of employees, number of new employees, etc), as well as Form CP8D, which comprises each employee\u2019s remuneration details (i.e. salaries, wages, allowance, incentives &amp; etc).\n\nForm E will only be considered complete if Form CP8D is submitted on or before the due date for submission of the form (31 March).\n\nFor employers who already utilise payroll software, you can easily generate both forms in the required format, and head to the LHDN website for e-filing.\n\nOther than e-Data Praisi and e-Filing (e-E), Form CP8D should be submitted in Excel or .txt file format, by sending an e-mail to <a href=\"mailto:CP8D@hasil.gov.my\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CP8D@hasil.gov.my<\/a> (or by any other method as may be prescribed from time to time).\n<h2 id=\"employees-provident-fund-epf-contribution-submission\">Employees Provident Fund (EPF) contribution submission<\/h2>\nThe <a href=\"https:\/\/employmenthero.com\/my\/glossary\/employee-provident-fund\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Employees Provident Fund (EPF)<\/a> is a government fund aimed at assisting Malaysians in saving for their retirement, in accordance with the Employees Provident Fund Act (1991).\n\nEPF payments are only applicable to citizens and permanent residents, and are optional for foreign employees, but both the employer and employee must contribute if the foreign employee ops to do so. This fund supports the training and upskilling of employees, apprentices and trainees in the Malaysian workforce.\n\nThe HRDF levy rate for each Malaysian employee is calculated as a percentage of each employee\u2019s total monthly wages, inclusive of fixed allowances. The EA form includes details on a worker\u2019s statutory contributions, salary, supplemental compensation, additional tax deductions, and exemptions.\n\nThis is their individual statement of remuneration from the financial year and allows them to put together their individual tax returns.
