Those are:\n<ul>\n \t<li aria-level=\"1\">The Baby Boomers &#8211; born roughly between 1946-1964 (Boomers are now between the ages of 59-77)<\/li>\n \t<li aria-level=\"1\">Gen X &#8211; born roughly between 1965-1980 (Gen Xers are now between the ages of 44-59)<\/li>\n \t<li aria-level=\"1\">The Millennials &#8211; born roughly between 1981-2000 (Millennials are now between the ages of 24-43)<\/li>\n \t<li aria-level=\"1\">Gen Z &#8211; born roughly between 1996-2012 (Gen Zers are now between the ages of 12-28)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nWhile you\u2019re bound to have a mix of age groups in your workforce, you might find your team leaning more towards one generation. Those who are still working will be inching towards <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mom.gov.sg\/employment-practices\/retirement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">retirement age<\/a>, or thinking about retirement \u2014 some will now have over 50 years of work experience.\n\nThis generation is often referred to as \u201cworkaholics\u201d because they\u2019re considered hard workers by nature. Highly competitive and valuing workplace visibility, they traditionally prefer office-based work. Fiercely loyal, it\u2019s not uncommon for Boomers to have only had one or two jobs their entire working career.\n\nIt&#8217;s more challenging to find data on what attracts Boomers to their desired place of work, but we do know that they\u2019re working a lot later in their lives than their parents did.\n<h3>Generation X in the workplace<\/h3>\nGen X, otherwise deemed the \u201clost generation\u201d or \u201clatchkey generation\u201d have witnessed some of the world&#8217;s greatest technological advancements. They\u2019re also considered to be the first generation to start the conversation around work-life balance (a quality often associated with both Millennials and Gen Z).\n\nAccording to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ddiworld.com\/research\/global-leadership-forecast-2018\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DDI\u2019s 2018 Global Leadership Forecast<\/a>, Gen Xers hold over 50% of all leadership roles. And they keep expanding their footprint as managers. They\u2019re deemed naturally autonomous and independent. However, there is also a belief that <a href=\"https:\/\/3quarksdaily.com\/3quarksdaily\/2023\/06\/the-constructive-culture-of-gen-x-cynicism.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gen X are quite cynical.<\/a>\n\n<a href=\"https:\/\/zety.com\/blog\/generation-x-in-the-workplace\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zety\u2019s Generation X in the Workplace Study<\/a> has also found that when looking for an ideal role:\n<ul>\n \t<li aria-level=\"1\">28% look for a strong work-life balance<\/li>\n \t<li aria-level=\"1\">26% want an open and honest work environment<\/li>\n \t<li aria-level=\"1\">23% are interested in professional development and collaboration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nWhen asked to compare themselves with Gen Zs, Millennials and Baby Boomers, Gen X respondents believed their generation to simply be the best. They claimed that they had a better work ethic, were more independent, as well as more entrepreneurial than the other generations.\n\nThe same study also found that 71% of Gen X respondents wanted their work to be meaningful while 84% wanted job satisfaction from their day to day. This puts to rest the commonly held perception that they work for money and come home to switch off.\n<h3>Millennials in the workplace<\/h3>\nMillennials got a lot of flak in the workplace \u2013 until the Gen Zs came along. They are known for being the \u201ceverybody wins\u201d generation, narcissistic and self-entitled. However, they\u2019re also considered pragmatic, determined and perhaps a smidge idealistic.\n\nThey are early adopters of technology and look for the same adoption in their places of work.\n\nRight now, millennials account for the largest section of the global workforce, with projections using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pulse\/millennials-75-workforce-2025-ever-anita-lettink\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UN data<\/a> showing that in 2020 they were accountable for 41% of it. They look to be the largest section of the workforce into the future, with the same data showing they\u2019ll represent 39% in 2025 and 37% in 2030.\n\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.deloitte.com\/global\/en\/issues\/work\/genzmillennialsurvey.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A Deloitte study<\/a> tells us that when millennials are searching for a job:\n<ul>\n \t<li aria-level=\"1\">39% look for a good work-life balance offering<\/li>\n \t<li aria-level=\"1\">29% look for learning and development opportunities<\/li>\n \t<li aria-level=\"1\">27% are interested in high salaries and benefits<\/li>\n \t<li aria-level=\"1\">26% want their work to be meaningful<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nMillenials largest impact on their workplaces have been finding new ways to openly communicate with their teams, emphasising and getting behind company culture and redesigning the way workplaces operate efficiently.\n<h3>Gen Z in the workplace<\/h3>\nGeneration Z are the youngest, most <a href=\"https:\/\/employmenthero.com\/sg\/resources\/diversity-inclusion-handbook\/\">diverse<\/a> and well-educated workers to ever enter the talent pool.
