Leadership Subject Matter Expert: Content and Assessment Developer
Design the content for our new Leadership programme!
About this role
We are looking to appoint an experienced leadership practitioner to develop the curriculum for a leadership programme at Level 4 on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework.
You will map the programme according to the delivery schedule, write the course content, design the online learning activities and produce the suite of assessments.
The programme spans four courses: Leading people and managing workflows, Communication skills, Leadership in action, and Professional practice. It will be delivered fully online, with directed asynchronous learning in the Moodle platform which learners will be able to work through independently. Learners will also be supported by live weekly evening tutorials facilitated by Future Skills’ lecturers, to apply and extend what they have already covered.
This is a fixed-term engagement with agreed term, fees and milestones. Work is carried out remotely, with attendance at agreed review meetings and a handover briefing.
Key Responsibilities
- Map the programme’s four courses, confirming where each outcome is taught, practised and assessed.
- Write and structure the self-directed learner content for all four courses so learners can work through it independently.
- Write build-ready specifications: screen content, video and narration scripts, activity briefs, quiz banks, discussion forums and reflective tasks.
- Work with our Moodle Instructional Designer through the build and review the built courses against your specifications.
- Produce facilitator packs for the weekly tutorials: session plans, notes, slides, activities and discussion prompts.
- Develop the suite of assessments as per Programme approval, including assessment tasks, learner instructions, marking guides and model answers.
- Prepare materials for pre-assessment moderation and respond to feedback
- Hand over editable source files and brief the teaching team.
About you
You will bring knowledge and real leadership experience and the ability to turn this into an online learning programme that works, including:
- Demonstrated experience leading people and managing workflows in a workplace.
- Proven experience writing course content, learning resources and assessments for tertiary or vocational programmes.
- Experience designing asynchronous online learning that holds engagement, and writing the scripts, storyboards or build specifications an Instructional Designer can work from directly.
- Experience mapping content and assessment to qualification outcomes and Skills Standards.
- Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Ao Māori perspectives on leadership, and how to reflect these in content.
- Excellent writing skills, pitched clearly for Level 4 learners.
- Well organised, able to work to milestones and responsive to review feedback.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in leadership, management or human resources.
- Advantages: an adult teaching or instructional design qualification, and an understanding of NZQA programme and moderation requirements.
