About the RoleÌý
We’re looking for an experiencedÌýDriver TrainerÌýto support our HSE team by delivering driver training, coaching, and assessments across our operations. This role is responsible for promoting safe driving practices, supporting driver development, maintaining training records, and ensuring drivers meet company and regulatory requirements.Ìý
Based inÌýAuckland, this is a hands-on role that requires regular travel to our operational sites throughout New Zealand. You will work closely with operational leaders, drivers, and the wider HSE team to strengthen driving capability and safety performance across the business.Ìý
This is a permanent, full-time Monday to Friday position.Ìý
About YouÌý
We are looking for someone with strong driver training experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with employees at all levels.Ìý
As the role requires frequent travel and independent work, you will be comfortable managing your own workload while remaining connected with the wider team.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Driver Trainer, Driver Assessor, or in a similar transport industry roleÌý
- Class 1–5 driver licence, with a strong understanding of safe driving practicesÌý
- AÌýcurrent New Zealand Driving Instructor (I) endorsementÌý
- Waste industry experience,Ìýincluding knowledge of waste collection vehicles,Ìýis preferredÌý
- W, T, R (wheels, tracks, rollers) and F (forklift) endorsements preferredÌý
- Excellent coaching, mentoring, and communication skillsÌý
- Confidence delivering both classroom-based and practical trainingÌý
- Strong attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping skillsÌý
- The ability to build effective working relationships with staff at all levelsÌý
- Strong organisational and time management skillsÌý
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvementÌý
- Competent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPointÌý
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout New Zealand
Key Responsibilities
- ÌýDeliver driver inductions, training, coaching, and competency assessmentsÌý
- Support the development and implementation of driver training programmesÌý
- Conduct driver observations and provide constructive feedback to improve performance and safety outcomesÌý
- Maintain accurate training records and competency documentationÌý
- Support incident investigations relating to driving activities where requiredÌý
- Promote safe driving practices and company driving standardsÌý
- Assist with compliance requirements relating to driver qualifications, licences, and endorsementsÌý
- Work closely with operational managers to identify training needs and development opportunitiesÌý
- Monitor and report on driver training and competency across the businessÌý
- Assist with HSE initiatives, communications, and continuous improvement activitiesÌý
