Property & Fleet Maintenance Worker – Southern

Mō Te Tūranga | About The role
As our Property & Fleet Maintenance Worker, you’ll support the Facilities & Asset Manager with the day-to-day maintenance of our Southern properties, gardens, grounds and vehicle fleet.
Working both independently and alongside others, you’ll help ensure our properties are safe, well presented and compliant, while supporting a home-like environment for tāngata whaiora.
In this varied role, you will:
- Complete general property repairs and maintenance, including minor building work, joinery, painting, sealing and basic plumbing.
- Maintain gardens and grounds, including mowing, weeding, pruning, planting, edging and spraying.
- Monitor Trust vehicles and arrange WOFs and repairs as required.
- Support tradespeople and identify maintenance or repairs that require specialist trades.
- Tag and test electrical equipment and help ensure properties, equipment and vehicles remain safe and compliant.
- Assist with practical projects and the safe relocation of furniture when required.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate promptly about maintenance and repairs.
- Provide practical IT support to the Christchurch-based IT Manager, including assisting with troubleshooting and resolving basic technical issues.
Mōu | About you
You don’t necessarily need to be a qualified tradesperson. We’re looking for someone with broad practical maintenance experience, strong problem-solving skills and the confidence to roll up their sleeves and get things done.
You’ll be organised, reliable and comfortable working autonomously while staying connected with the wider team. You’ll also be comfortable working respectfully within mental health and disability residential environments.
Must Have:
·Proven experience and practical skills in property maintenance or a related trade.
·Full New Zealand driver’s licence.
·A current First Aid certificate, or willingness to obtain one
·Ability to work autonomously, prioritise tasks and solve problems effectively.
·Ability to complete general repairs and maintenance to a high standard.
·Good communication, record-keeping and organisational skills.
·Ability to work respectfully within a mental health and disability residential environment.
Desirable:
·A relevant trade qualification or formal training in property maintenance, construction or a related field.
·Experience working in a mental health or disability residential environment.
·Experience with practical projects such as building, repairs or property improvements.
