Purpose

To control access to the construction site, maintain site security, manage incoming deliveries, and ensure all personnel adhere to initial Health and Safety requirements upon entry.

Key Responsibilities

DAY TO DAY TASKS

• Control the main entry and exit points of the construction site at all times.
• Maintain an accurate log of all personnel, visitors, and vehicles entering and exiting the site.
• Verify the identity and authorisation of all workers, contractors, and visitors before granting access.
• Log all incoming material deliveries and direct delivery drivers to the correct unloading zones.
• Ensure all visitors and new contractors are directed to the site office for formal H&S inductions.
• Ensure all persons entering the site that have completed and H&S induction, sign into and out of the site electronically via the tablet provided.
• Communicate with the Site Managers, H&S Coordinator and Delivery Coordinator via two-way radio to announce arrivals and manage delivery traffic.
• Advise Management immediately if any difficulties are encountered with access control or deliveries. This includes situations where you are unable to complete tasks due to a lack of equipment or non-compliance from visitors.
• Ensure the Sign in/sign out tablet is kept charged at all times, ready for use.

SITE SECURITY AND HOUSEKEEPING

• Ensure the gate and perimeter are fully secured at the end of each shift and report any security breaches.
• Ensure the gate shed is fully secured at the end of each shift.
• Enforce strict Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) rules for anyone entering the site.
• Keep entryways and gates clear of hazards, ensuring that the site entrance is clean, tidy, and left in a safe manner each day.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

• Previous experience in security, gatekeeping, or site administration.
• Strong understanding of standard construction site Health and Safety protocols.
• Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to be assertive and professional.
• Must be physically fit and able to withstand working outdoors in various weather conditions.
