Summary:

As a Sommelier at From Here By Mike, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our guests’ dining experience through expert wine selection and pairing. Curate, manage and deliver an exceptional wine program.

This permanent, full-time position offers an opportunity to lead our wine program drive revenue and provide leadership within the team.

The salary range for this role is set at $80,000 – $85,000 + Super, plus incentives/bonuses.

Responsibilities:

  • Curate and manage the wine list, ensuring a diverse selection that complements the menu.
  • Provide expert wine recommendations and pairings to guests, enhancing their dining experience.
  • Conduct wine tastings and training sessions for staff to improve their knowledge and service skills.
  • Maintain inventory and oversee the proper storage of wines to ensure quality and compliance with health regulations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and new wine releases to continually enhance the wine program.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to create seasonal wine pairings and special event offerings.
  • Engage with guests to enhance dining experience through storytelling and product knowledge.
  • Manage wine cellar operations, including proper storage, labelling and organisation.
  • Drive beverage sales through strategic recommendations and upselling.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Sommelier or in a similar role within the hospitality industry.
  • Strong knowledge of wines, including regions, varietals, and food pairings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for customer service.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Certification from a recognised wine education program (e.g., WSET) is preferred.
  • Previous management experience is advantageous.
