AIEF is looking for an exceptional professional to join our Alumni Engagement Team and support the ever-expanding AIEF Alumni cohort.

Bringing together the government and private sector, AIEF provides scholarship funding for Indigenous students to complete Year 12 or tertiary studies, with career support and mentoring to help them make a successful transition to employment.

Backed by some of Australia’s most influential business, philanthropic, media and community leaders, AIEF has grown from one scholarship student in 2008 to now supporting over 1,500 young Indigenous people from over 400 communities in every state and territory of Australia.

AIEF has consistently achieved annual retention and Year 12 completion rates and career transition rates above 90% since funding its first scholarship in 2008.

The Role

Reporting to the Manager – Alumni Engagement, the Coordinator– Alumni Engagement is primarily responsible for designing and delivering targeted support for alumni in their first two years post-graduation as they transition from school to further education, training, or employment.

This role will need to also finalise all work related to previous and remaining Career Sessions for the 2025 School Year, Productive Engagement for the 2025 School Year, and all associated data and reporting for both.

Key Responsibilities

The Coordinator – Alumni Engagement will have responsibility for the following:

Early Alumni Support

  • Design and implement targeted initiatives to support the early alumni cohort to drive their engagement in education, training, employment or other productive engagement
  • Apply client relationship principles to maintain relationships with alumni in their first two years post-school, ensuring relationship with AIEF remains strong and positive including maintaining regular communication and tailored support as alumni progress through chosen pathways
  • Develop a strong understanding of current Year 12 cohort each year including academic and career interests, and post-school intentions, and ensure meaningful engagement with students at AIEF events throughout their final year
  • Maintain trusted relationships with secondary education providers, job networks and tertiary providers
  • Coordinate and write reports and evaluations of internal initiatives

Leadership, Team and Collaboration

  • Support the Manager – Alumni Engagement with onboarding new team members, the implementation of policies and procedures and annual reporting processes
  • Use initiative to support the smooth running of the Alumni Engagement Team and step in where there are gaps
  • Work closely with other teams to ensure a cohesive and consistent experience for alumni
  • Participate in and contribute to organisation-wide events, projects and initiatives that require an all-hands-on-deck approach

  • Tertiary or other qualifications in related field or equivalent work experience
  • Experience working within Indigenous education is highly desirable
