Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to join our team in North Ryde, New South Wales. This contract role is pivotal in providing expert legal advice and support to our organisation, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations while mitigating risks. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in corporate law and demonstrate exceptional analytical and negotiation skills, contributing to the strategic objectives of the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive legal advice on a range of corporate matters, including contracts, compliance, and regulatory issues.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate various legal documents and agreements to protect the organisation’s interests.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on relevant laws and regulations affecting the business.
  • Represent the organisation in legal proceedings and liaise with external legal counsel as necessary.
  • Develop and implement legal policies and procedures to enhance compliance and governance.
  • Train and educate staff on legal issues and best practices to promote a culture of compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent qualification.
  • Admitted to practice as a solicitor in Australia.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a corporate legal environment, preferably in a senior role.
  • Strong understanding of corporate law, contract law, and compliance regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
