Summary:

The First Nation Community Officer for the Central West Region plays a vital role in supporting and enhancing the wellbeing of First Nation communities in Rockhampton, Queensland. This permanent, full-time position is essential for fostering relationships between the community and various stakeholders, ensuring that the unique needs and aspirations of the community are met through effective social care initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with First Nation community members to identify their needs and concerns.
  • Develop and implement community programs that promote health, education, and social welfare.
  • Collaborate with local organisations and government agencies to secure resources and support for community initiatives.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions to empower community members.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community programs and report on outcomes.
  • Advocate for the rights and interests of First Nation communities at local and regional levels.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of community engagement activities.

Qualifications:

  • A relevant qualification in social work, community development, or a related field.
  • Experience working with First Nation communities or in a social care environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and community members.
  • Knowledge of cultural protocols and issues affecting First Nation communities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
