About the roleÌý
Coolways Solution Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Transport Company Manager to direct and control the operational and commercial performance of our refrigerated transport operations from our Jandakot depot.Ìý
Reporting to theÌýHead of National Operations, the successful applicant will have responsibility for fleet operations, transport scheduling, customer service, depot performance, operational budgets,ÌýemployeesÌýand regulatory compliance.Ìý
The Jandakot depot is the Group’s Western Australian base for interstate road train line-haul and for the cartage of rail-carried refrigerated freight to and from intermodal terminalsÌýoperatedÌýby Pacific National and Aurizon. The depot also incorporates on-site freezer and chiller storage supporting the Group’s transport operations. In addition to accountability for the Western Australian operation, the position directs the Group’s national refrigerated rail container fleet across the east–west corridor and manages the line-haul drivers accredited for corridor operations.Ìý
The position will oversee the Jandakot depot and Western Australian line-haul and metropolitan distribution operations while coordinating with interstate depots, customers,ÌýsuppliersÌýand workshops.Ìý
This is a senior, hands-on management position requiring strong commercial,ÌýoperationalÌýand people-management capabilities.Ìý
Key responsibilitiesÌý
- Direct and control the operational and commercial performance of the company’s refrigerated transport operations.Ìý
- Plan and coordinate the arrival,ÌýturnaroundÌýand dispatch of interstate road trains at the Jandakot depot, including load planning, driverÌýallocationÌýand scheduling of return loads.Ìý
- Coordinate the cartage of rail-carried refrigerated freight to and from intermodal terminals, including container collection and delivery scheduling, and liaison with rail operators and terminal staff.Ìý
- Direct the allocation,ÌýutilisationÌýand turnaround of the Group’s national refrigerated rail container fleet across the east–west corridor, including scheduling of container movements between eastern and western depots and liaison with rail operators on capacity and service performance.Ìý
- Manage road train assembly and breakdown at the depot and ensure compliance withÌýWestern Australian roadÌýtrain access,ÌýrouteÌýandÌýpermitÌýconditions.Ìý
- Manage the acquisition, replacement and disposal of prime movers, refrigerated trailers, refrigerationÌýunitsÌýand ancillary transport equipment.Ìý
- Oversee preventative servicing programs, workshop arrangements, refrigeration-unit maintenance and bulk-fuel supply arrangements.Ìý
- Monitor fleet availability, utilisation, fuel consumption, maintenanceÌýcostsÌýand operating performance.Ìý
- Meet with customers toÌýdetermineÌýtheir freight,ÌýdeliveryÌýand cold-chain service requirements.Ìý

- Manage key customer relationships, negotiate freight rates and service terms, and resolve escalated customer complaints.Ìý

- Direct the allocation of vehicles, refrigerated trailers and drivers to meet customer requirements and operational priorities.Ìý
- Set andÌýmonitorÌýthe carriage and storage conditionsÌýrequiredÌýtoÌýmaintainÌýproduct integrity, including temperature set points, refrigerationÌýmonitoringÌýand cold-chain documentation.Ìý
- Coordinate the collection and delivery of freight and the movement of vehicles between depots, customerÌýsitesÌýand workshops.Ìý
- Oversee the operation of on-site freezer and chiller storage in support of the depot’s transport operations, including space utilisation, stockÌýmovementÌýand temperature compliance.Ìý
- Maintain operational and commercial records and prepare management reports covering fleet utilisation, on-time delivery performance, cost per kilometre, transportÌýexpenditureÌýand operating margin.Ìý
- Prepare and control operational budgets,ÌýmonitorÌýtransport costs and implement productivity and efficiency improvements.Ìý
- Lead depot supervisors, transport allocators,ÌýdriversÌýand other operational employees.Ìý
- Manage the Group’s line-haul drivers accredited for east–west corridor operations, including allocation, rostering, performanceÌýmanagementÌýand compliance supervision across the corridor.Ìý
- Manage workforce planning, recruitment, rostering, training, development, performanceÌýmanagementÌýand employee conduct.Ìý
- Establish andÌýmaintainÌýoperational procedures, performanceÌýstandardsÌýand management controls.Ìý
- Ensure compliance with applicable work health and safety legislation and with heavy vehicle regulation across both national and Western Australian frameworks,Ìýincluding the Heavy Vehicle National Law and NHVAS accreditation conditions applying in participating jurisdictions, and WesternÌýAustralian heavy vehicle and road train access requirements administered by Main Roads Western Australia,Ìýtogether with Chain of Responsibility obligations, fatigue-management and mass-management requirements and food-safety requirements.Ìý
- Investigate transport incidents, safety events, customer-service failures, temperatureÌýbreachesÌýand operational non-conformances.Ìý
- Implement corrective and preventative actions following incidents, complaints,ÌýauditsÌýand compliance investigations.Ìý
- Report operational performance, risks,ÌýincidentsÌýand improvement initiatives to theÌýHead of National Operations.Ìý
- Coordinate with interstate depots toÌýmaintainÌýconsistent operating standards, customer-serviceÌýlevelsÌýand cold-chain procedures.Ìý
Qualifications,ÌýskillsÌýand experienceÌý
The successful applicant will have:Ìý
- An AQFÌýAssociate Degree, Advanced Diploma, Diploma or higher qualification in transport andÌýlogistics,ÌýlogisticsÌýmanagement, supply chain management, businessÌýmanagementÌýor a related discipline. Applicants without a formal qualification will be considered where they hold at least three years of relevant transport-management experience.Ìý
- A minimum of three years’ management experience in a commercial road-transport operation, covering fleet operations, transport scheduling, operational employees, customerÌýserviceÌýand cost control.Ìý
- Experience directing and controlling a transport operation, rather than solely performing allocation,ÌýschedulingÌýor administrative duties.Ìý
- Demonstrated experience managing interstate line-haul operations, including multi-combination or road train movements, and managing driving staffÌýoperatingÌýacross multipleÌýjurisdictions.Ìý
- Experience coordinating intermodal freight movements and cartage to and from rail terminals will be highly regarded.Ìý

Salary and employment conditionsÌý
The position offers a base salary of $150,000–$160,000 per annum, plus superannuation.Ìý
