About the RoleÌý
This is not a standardÌýdataÌýanalytics or engineering role.Ìý
It’sÌýabout thinking in systems and building ourÌýdataÌýplatform from first principles. As an AIÌýDataÌýEngineer in our Platform team, you will design and build the end-to-endÌýdataÌýfoundations that translate our real-world processes — executed by both human teams and agentic workflows — into clean, structured, and scalableÌýdataÌýmodels our business can rely on.Ìý
AI is not a side capability in this role.ÌýAI isÌýa core part of howÌýthe Platform teamÌýworksÌýandÌýhowÌýyou will be expected to design, build & manageÌýyourÌýdataÌýproducts.ÌýYou’llÌýuse AI tooling throughout the fullÌýdataÌýengineering lifecycle — from scoping and schema design through to design reviews, refactoring, and governanceÌý– andÌýyou’llÌýbuild medallionÌýdataÌýlayers that serve AI consumers with the same rigour and intent you bring to humanÌýconsumers.Ìý
You’llÌýbe part of a hands-on, genuinely collaborative teamÌýof engineers, systemÌýthinkersÌýand innovators. - DataÌýModelling & Schema DesignÌý—ÌýDesigning,ÌýimplementingÌýandÌýmaintainingÌýclear, structuredÌýdataÌýmodels based on both existing models and first-principles thinking, using AI-assisted tooling throughout — from scoping and schema design to reviewing existing models, reasoning through edge cases, and refactoring legacy structures safely.Ìý
- Medallion ArchitectureÌý–ÌýDesigning,ÌýimplementingÌýandÌýmaintainingÌýbronze, silver, and goldÌýdataÌýinfrastructure layersÌýthat deliverÌýaccurate, reliable perspectives to both AI and human consumers — ensuring each layer is purpose-built, clearly governed, and trusted by the teams and systems that depend on it.Ìý
- DataÌýIngestion & ELTÌý—ÌýDesigning,ÌýimplementingÌýandÌýmaintainingÌýELT pipelines that extractÌýdataÌýfrom source systems,Ìýaligned with howÌýweÌýgenerateÌý& consumeÌýdata.Ìý
- DataÌýQuality & GovernanceÌý—ÌýWorking closely with our colleagues to ensure our implementedÌýdataÌýschemas accurately reflect Five Good Friends’ business process taxonomy, organisational & industry required rules ontology.ÌýÌý
- Software Engineering CollaborationÌý— WorkingÌýside-by-side withÌýa core team of talentedÌýsoftware engineers, systems analysts, and operational stakeholders toÌýdeliverÌýcomprehensiveÌýPlatformÌýsolutions thatÌýspanÌýdistributedÌýdeployment topologies.Ìý
- AI-Enabled Ways of WorkingÌý— Actively embracingÌýAI productivity tooling (such asÌýClaude Code, GitHub Copilot, VS Code AI extensions) across schema design, project scoping, documentation, and refactoring — and helpÌýestablishÌýresponsible, effective patterns for AI-assistedÌýdataÌýengineering across the team.Ìý
