About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer at Gigacomm, you will design and build the back-end services that connect our wholesale partners to our internal systems. Working primarily in Python on GCP and GKE, you will build APIs, microservices, and integrations that underpin Gigacomm’s wholesale platform.

You will report to the Software Engineering Manager and work as part of the Platform Development team alongside engineers, product managers, and the Platform Engineering team. You will contribute to migrating our systems onto a modern Python and GCP stack, and help establish the engineering practices and automation that let a small team deliver reliably at pace.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and build secure, scalable APIs and microservices in Python on GCP and GKE
  • Build integrations that connect GigaComm’s systems and partners, automating manual processes
  • Contribute to platform modernisation — migrating existing systems onto a modern Python and GCP stack
  • Build and maintain automated testing practices including unit, integration, contract and system-level testing
  • Deploy, monitor and operate software systems including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code
  • Work directly with stakeholders and product managers to define and deliver requirements
  • Use agentic coding tools (e.g. Claude Code, Codex) as a core part of how you build
  • Mentor others and help raise the bar across the team

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years’ experience as a software developer with a strong back-end focus
  • Strong, production-grade Python experience
  • Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
  • Hands-on experience running containerised workloads on Kubernetes, ideally with GCP and GKE,
  • Experience designing and building APIs, microservices and system integrations
  • Demonstrable experience with agentic coding tools (e.g. Claude Code, Codex) and AI-assisted workflows
  • Experience with automated CI/CD pipelines, particularly in GitHub
  • Strong automated testing experience across unit, integration, API, contract and system-level testing
  • Modern cloud-based database design skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred:

  • Experience in the telecommunications industry
  • Strong understanding of networking and internet technologies
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform)
  • Experience taking systems through a platform migration or re-platform
