The Indigenous Desert Alliance (IDA) is an Indigenous-led, member-based organisation that plays a vital role in keeping the desert connected and strengthening desert ranger programs. The IDA works with its members and partners to ensure that Indigenous rangers are enabled to collaboratively manage the Australian desert are empowered to realise their aspirations for community, culture, and Country. ÌýWe work with over 65 ranger groups from across the desert in our role to ‘Keep the Desert Connected’ and empower a united voice for the desert. ÌýThe Indigenous Land Management (ILM) sector includes Traditional Owners, Indigenous Rangers, and their land management organisations who undertake a wide range of cultural, environmental, and natural resource management activities. In Australia’s desert regions, which includes 22 Indigenous Protected Areas, these activities may include:Ìý ÌýCultural and ecological knowledge transfer initiativesÌýFire managementÌýCultural site and heritage managementÌýFeral animal and weed controlÌýThreatened speciesÌýmonitoringÌýand recovery projectsÌýFee for service economic activitiesÌý

About the role:Ìý

We’reÌýlooking for a highly organised and proactiveÌýAdministrationÌýSupportÌýOfficerÌýto join ourÌýCorporateÌýServices team in Alice Springs.Ìý

This is a hands-on role that keeps the organisation running smoothly supporting day-to-day operations, coordinating travel andÌýlogistics,ÌýassistingÌýwith events, and providing key administrative support across teams.Ìý

You’llÌýplayÌýan important roleÌýin supporting both internal operations and our broader engagement work.Ìý

Key ResponsibilitiesÌý

  • Provide general administrative support across the organisationÌý
  • Coordinate travel, accommodation, andÌýlogisticsÌýfor staff and eventsÌý
  • Support meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagement activitiesÌý
  • AssistÌýwith fleet coordination including bookings, servicing, and recordsÌý
  • MaintainÌýaccurateÌýrecords, registers, and office systemsÌý
  • Support onboarding and induction ofÌýnew staffÌý
  • AssistÌýwith reporting, documentation, and communicationsÌý
  • Provide administrative support to the Engagement teamÌý

Experience in an administrative or office support roleÌýStrong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple prioritiesÌýExperience coordinating travel, meetings, or eventsÌýHigh attention to detail and strong record-keeping skillsÌýConfident communication skills (written and verbal)ÌýStrong Microsoft Office skills and ability to learn new systemsÌýA professional,ÌýreliableÌýand team-focused approachÌý
