The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Services Engineer to support the Land Network Integration Centre (LNIC) Validate Frame team in delivering integration, assurance, testing, and sustainment activities across complex Land Combat System (LCS) environments. The role supports Army’s digital integration and interoperability objectives across Land, Joint and Coalition capability environments.
Working within a highly specialised engineering team, you will contribute to systems integration, configuration integrity, test and evaluation, and ongoing design evolution activities across interconnected application, network, mission command, and information systems operating across multiple security domains.
This is a hands-on senior technical role suited to an experienced systems engineer or integration specialist who can operate independently within secure and complex ICT environments. You will work closely with Defence stakeholders, ICT providers, and coalition partners to resolve integration issues, maintain system alignment, and support interoperability outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Producing and maintaining authoritative system architecture, design, and integration documentation
- Providing Level 3 engineering support and technical remediation activities
- Conducting configuration management across hardware, software, and integrated system artefacts
- Supporting integration testing, risk reduction, and validation activities
- Contributing to innovation initiatives and future-ready Land Combat System integration approaches
- Supporting Coalition and Joint integration activities, including development of technical networking and NETOPS documentation
- Providing authoritative technical advice to Defence stakeholders across integrated ICT and mission system environments
- Mentoring and training ADF personnel through practical engineering engagement activities
Supporting integration alignment across Defence ICT providers, capability projects, and coalition stakeholders.
The role is based primarily in Symonston, ACT, with interstate and occasional international travel required to support coalition activities, exercises, and field trials.
About You
You are a senior technical practitioner with strong systems engineering and integration experience gained within complex enterprise, Defence, mission systems, or secure ICT environments. You understand how interconnected applications, networks, infrastructure, and mission systems operate together across highly integrated environments.
You have demonstrated experience across:
- Systems engineering and software engineering practices
- System integration and validation
- Requirements analysis and interface management
- Configuration control and assurance activities
- Enterprise application and information system integration
- Security compliance aligned to the ISM and Essential Eight.
You bring strong technical knowledge across:
- LAN/WAN engineering
- IP networking, routing, DNS and DHCP
- Security and interoperability principles
- Identity and access management
- Active Directory and authentication services
- Defence or secure ICT environments.
You are comfortable engaging with Defence stakeholders, ICT teams, security authorities, and capability representatives to resolve complex integration issues and provide trusted engineering advice with minimal oversight. Experience working within Joint, coalition, or FVEY environments will be highly regarded.
Highly desirable experience includes:
- Systems-of-systems integration
- Integration testing and evaluation
- Configuration and release management
- SOE engineering and administration
- Scripting or automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
- Coalition or deployable ICT environments
- PKI, federation, and trust services
- Technical architecture and interface documentation
- Defence capability development or experimentation environments.
Candidates must hold, or be eligible to obtain, a minimum NV2 security clearance.
