The Role
The Land Network Integration Centre (LNIC) is responsible for advising and directing Army’s digital network integration efforts to maximise interoperability across Land, Joint and Coalition environments. An opportunity exists for an experienced LCSSE System Administrator / Communications Network Engineering Advanced Practitioner (Level 3) to join the LNIC team supporting the ongoing design, implementation, administration, and sustainment of complex physical and virtualised network environments.
This is a highly technical, hands-on role responsible for supporting and maintaining a secure networked compute and storage environment spanning multiple physical and virtual tenancies. You will assist with infrastructure management, systems administration, security compliance activities, configuration and change management, infrastructure upgrades, and support to Army units, project teams, and industry partners operating within the LCSSE.
Working within a small, specialist team, you will contribute to the delivery and sustainment of Defence digital integration capabilities across the Land domain, supporting experimentation, trials, exercises, and capability development activities within Joint and Coalition environments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Administration and sustainment of VMware ESXi, VMware vCenter, VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, WSUS, and associated infrastructure
- Management of virtualised and physical infrastructure environments supporting the LCSSE and connected systems
- Security compliance activities including vulnerability management, patching, configuration management, accreditation support, and implementation of ISM/STIG controls
- Setup, administration, and teardown of user and project environments across multiple domains
- Installation, configuration, and sustainment of Windows and Linux-based military software applications and systems
- Infrastructure monitoring, availability management, backup management, and capacity planning activities
- Technical documentation development including SOPs, As-Builts, High Level Designs, and configuration records
- Support to infrastructure upgrades, extensions, integration activities, and technical change implementation
- Providing technical advice and support to ADF, APS, contractor personnel, and external stakeholders across Defence capability projects
- Supporting digitally integrated Land Combat System outcomes through the Land Integration Framework – Digital (LIF-D)
This role is primarily based onsite at the LNIC facility in Symonston ACT, with some interstate and occasional international travel supporting exercises, trials, and coalition engagement activities.
