The role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Payroll Officer to join our finance team at Lady Gowrie Tasmania. This role is responsible for the timely and accurate administration and processing of payroll, ensuring employees are paid correctly and in accordance with relevant legislation and Industrial Instruments.
Working within a supportive Finance team and collaborating with People & Culture and Managers across LGT, you will play an essential role in maintaining payroll operations, providing frontline support for payroll enquiries, and contributing to continuous improvement.
In this role, you will:
- Process end-to-end payroll in an accurate and timely manner (currently – 650 employees)
- Maintain and update employee records in the payroll and rostering systems, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality and compliance with legislation, Industrial Instruments and policy.
- Liaise with People & Culture and management teams to resolve payroll enquiries and discrepancies promptly.
- Assist with month-end and year-end payroll reconciliations and reporting.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and contribute to a positive team culture.
- Perform additional finance-related duties as required
What you’ll bring:
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and good working knowledge of payroll systems.
- Understanding of payroll principles and award interpretation.
- Experience with Micropay, Humanforce (highly regarded), 91±¬ÁÏ and Microsoft Business Central (Wiise)
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative approach to teamwork.
- Current (or ability to obtain) Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration (child-related activity) and National Police Check.
