We deliver comprehensive solutions to Tier 1 clients, including bulk dozer push, coal quality and recovery, mobile crushing, civil works, and rehabilitation services. With our Head Office in Beresfield, a fully equipped workshop in Muswellbrook, and assets across major Hunter Valley sites, we are expanding our team and seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join us.
The Role
Are you meticulous, process-driven, and passionate about payroll? We’re looking for a Payroll Officer to manage end-to-end payroll processes for our growing workforce. Based in our Beresfield office, this permanent, full-time role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, supportive environment where accuracy and efficiency are key.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Payroll Processing – Manage fortnightly payroll for multiple sites, ensuring compliance with awards, EBAs, and company policies.
- Award & EBA Interpretation – Ensure accurate pay rates and entitlements in line with multiple industry agreements/awards.
- Timesheet Management – Process, validate, and reconcile timesheets to ensure accurate wage calculations.
- Employee Setup & Compliance – Onboard new employees into the payroll system, ensuring correct tax, superannuation, and entitlements setup.
- Payroll Reporting – Generate payroll reports, manage leave balances, and assist with payroll tax compliance.
- Superannuation & Compliance – Process super contributions, Single Touch Payroll (STP) submissions, and ensure ATO compliance.
- Payroll Support & Problem Solving – Assist employees with payroll queries, discrepancies, and pay-related concerns.
We’re looking for a proactive and organised professional with:
- 5+ years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in a medium to high-volume environment. Experience with black coal, civil and manufacturing awards preferred but not essential.
- Strong knowledge of payroll software (e.g., MYOB, Xero, or similar).
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Solid understanding of awards, EBAs, and payroll legislation.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
