Position Purpose

Join Brida and help maintain some of the Pilbara’s most prominent commercial and industrial sites.

As a Gardener / Spray Technician, you’ll play an important role in creating safe, well-maintained and visually appealing outdoor environments. This hands-on position combines general grounds maintenance with specialised vegetation and weed control using safe chemical application practices.

Working as part of a supportive team, you’ll contribute to delivering high-quality services while maintaining strong safety, environmental and customer service standards.

Key Responsibilities

Grounds Maintenance

You will:

  • Maintain gardens, lawns and landscaped areas to a high standard.
  • Mow, edge, whipper snip and brush cut grassed areas.
  • Prune trees, shrubs and hedges.
  • Weed garden beds, pathways and hardstand areas.
  • Plant, water and maintain gardens and landscaped areas.
  • Apply mulch, soil conditioners and fertilisers where required.
  • Remove green waste and maintain clean, tidy worksites.
  • Assist with landscaping and site improvement projects.
  • Operate and maintain gardening equipment safely.
  • Deliver services that meet Brida and client expectations.

Chemical Spraying & Vegetation Control

You will:

  • Identify weeds and unwanted vegetation.
  • Safely prepare, mix and apply herbicides in accordance with product labels and Company procedures.
  • Operate backpack, hand-held and vehicle-mounted spray equipment.
  • Carry out vegetation management and weed control programs across client sites.
  • Monitor treated areas and undertake follow-up spraying where required.
  • Maintain accurate chemical application records.
  • Safely store, transport and dispose of chemicals.
  • Apply environmentally responsible weed management practices.

Workplace Health & Safety

You will:

  • Follow all Brida policies, procedures and WHS requirements.
  • Wear and maintain appropriate PPE.
  • Handle chemicals safely and responsibly.
  • Report hazards, incidents and near misses promptly.
  • Participate in toolbox meetings and safety initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe work environment.

Customer Service

You will:

  • Represent Brida in a professional manner.
  • Build positive working relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Follow reasonable directions from Supervisors and Managers.
  • Deliver quality work that meets contractual and client expectations.

Essential Selection Criteria

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • A current Australian Driver’s Licence.
  • A current ACDC Licence (Agricultural Chemical Distribution Control) or equivalent recognised chemical application qualification.
  • Experience in commercial gardening, grounds maintenance or landscaping.
  • Experience applying herbicides safely and effectively.
  • The ability to safely operate gardening equipment and small plant.
  • A strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to work independently and manage workloads.
  • The ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Desirable

It would be great if you also have:

  • White Card.
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Chainsaw competency.
  • Traffic Management accreditation.
  • Rio Tinto site inductions.
  • Experience working on mining, industrial or commercial sites.
  • Irrigation installation or maintenance experience.

Physical Requirements

This role requires you to:

  • Perform manual labour and repetitive tasks.
  • Lift and carry up to 20 kg.
  • Work outdoors in hot, dusty and physically demanding conditions.
  • Walk, bend, kneel and stand for extended periods.
  • Wear PPE, including respiratory protection when handling chemicals.
  • Safely operate powered gardening equipment and machinery.

Mandatory Licences & Certifications

  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence.
  • Current ACDC Licence (Agricultural Chemical Distribution Control) or equivalent recognised chemical application qualification.
  • Any client or site-specific inductions required by Brida.
