Silentium Defence is pioneering passive radar and advanced sensing technology for Defence, national security, and space awareness. As we continue to grow our engineering capability, we are expanding our Radar Applications team — responsible for the internal software layer that powers our operations.
The Opportunity
We’re seeking a Software Engineer with around 3+ years of industry experience to build and improve the applications, integrations, and platform services that support production, research, field trials, and day-to-day engineering operations.
You’ll work across C++ and Python, developing in Linux-based environments to deliver reliable internal tools, radar-based applications, APIs, and automations — enabling radars and teams across Silentium to work efficiently and with confidence.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving real-world problems, collaborating across disciplines, and building well-engineered solutions that have direct operational impact.
What You’ll Do
- Develop internal tools, radar-based applications, APIs, automations, and integrations
- Build and maintain C++, Python, and Linux-based services
- Improve software quality through testing, documentation, code reviews
- Work closely with Research, Production, Project and Field Trial teams to understand user needs
- Contribute to technical decisions, architecture discussions, and delivery planning
- Help improve tooling, workflows, and internal engineering efficiency
- Troubleshoot and support internal systems to ensure reliability and uptime
- Participate in field trials to perform real-world testing and facilitate knowledge transfer

About You
- Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or other relevant industry
- 3 + years of experience as a software engineer
- Proficiency with C++ and Python (or similar languages)
- Familiarity with Linux environments and command-line tooling
- Experience with APIs, integrations, or data-driven services
- Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working with ambiguity
- Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- A mindset focused on reliability, maintainability, and continuous improvement
Employment Eligibility
- Applicants must be an Australian citizen and have ability to obtain and maintain an AGSVA Security Clearance, with a minimum requirement of NV1 clearance.
- Candidates must also meet ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) requirements.
