Description

SMA Australia has a full-time opportunity for a talented Service Engineer in our Large-Scale team. This role would suit somebody based in Sydney/Brisbane. The position is hybrid ie, a mix of working from home and working at our Brisbane or North Sydney office.

About the role:

The Service Engineer will be responsible for supplying troubleshooting support to the Field Service Technicians and supporting SMA’s Large-scale Customers to achieve their hold point requirements.

The Service Engineer is the interface between Australia local service functions and HQ for the resolution of complex technical issues and where required supports in the correct application and technical specification of SMA Large Scale solutions.

The Service Engineer provides technical guidance to the Sales and Application Engineering team of Large Scale.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Provides support to SMA’s Utility-scale Customers during hold point test’s
  • Identifies and troubleshoots system related problems.
  • Analyses data from Utility Inverters, Controllers, Medium Voltage components and additional equipment.
  • Conducting a variety of measurements during troubleshooting and hold point tests.   
  • Initiates the escalation process of technical issues to HQ.
  • Creates technical reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provides technical support and training to internal stakeholders.
  • Opening and closing of escalation tickets.
  • Training of local teams on technical topics

Your qualifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in the area of Electrical/Electronic engineering is required.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in customer service and technical support.
  • CEC Accreditation.
  • Advanced understanding of PV and BESS systems including Plant controller, inverters, medium voltage equipment and communication. 
  • Competency in the use of measurement tools and software (oscilloscope, power analyser, Wireshark, others). 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.  
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.  
  • Ability to analyse and solve problems effectively.
