AboutÌýthe RoleÌý

We are seeking aÌýSenior Mechanical Engineer – Manufacturing EquipmentÌýto lead the end-to-end mechanical design of our custom semiconductor manufacturing machines. This role owns the full machine design lifecycle—from concept through detailed design, prototyping, validation, and production-ready equipment.Ìý

The ideal candidate has a provenÌýtrack recordÌýof taking machines from blank page to operational production equipment, thrives in a fast-paced, startup environment, and brings a broad skillset across mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing processes. You will collaborate closely with controls, mechatronics, and software engineers to deliver integrated, high-performance manufacturing solutions.Ìý

This is a high-impact role, critical to scalingÌýSyenta’sÌýin-house production capabilities and reducing reliance on external vendors.Ìý

Mechanical Design & DeliveryÌý

  • Lead end-to-end mechanical design of manufacturing equipment, from concept through to production releaseÌý

  • Develop andÌýmaintainÌýCAD models, engineering drawings, and BOMsÌý

  • Select materials, components, and vendors; manage procurement for mechanical subsystemsÌý

  • Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principlesÌý

  • Conduct tolerance analysis, FEA, and other engineering analyses asÌýrequiredÌý

  • Support prototyping, commissioning, and continuous improvement of equipmentÌý

  • Contribute to design reviews, documentation, and mechanical engineering standardsÌý

Collaboration & Cross-Disciplinary IntegrationÌý

  • Work closely with mechatronics, controls, and software teams to deliver fully integrated machine solutionsÌý

  • Communicate mechanical design decisions effectively across teams and stakeholdersÌý

  • ProvideÌýtechnical guidance and input on equipment architecture and systems integrationÌý

Process & StandardsÌý

  • Establish mechanical design standards, best practices, and workflows for the teamÌý

  • Maintain high-quality documentation, including CAD, drawings, BOMs, and specificationsÌý

  • Support continuous improvement of design and manufacturing processesÌý

RequirementsÌý

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical EngineeringÌýor equivalentÌý

  • 7+ years’ mechanical engineering experience, with at least 4 years focused on manufacturing equipment or machine designÌý

  • ProvenÌýtrack recordÌýof taking machines from concept to production-ready equipmentÌý

  • Proficient in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or equivalent)Ìý

  • Strong understanding of mechanisms, pneumatics, motion systems, and structural designÌý

  • Experience with GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and engineering drawingsÌý

  • Familiarity with precision prototyping methods and manufacturing processesÌý

  • Strong problem-solving skills, initiative, and ability to work cross-functionallyÌý

  • Semiconductor or chip manufacturing equipment experience is a strong plusÌý

Preferred QualificationsÌý

  • Experience in startups or fast-paced engineering environmentsÌý
