Project Officer – Education
Victorian Aboriginal Children and Young People’s Alliance (VACYPA)
- Long Term Contract – 36 months
- Hybrid working
- Working with a passionate team
Be the bridge between policy and possibility.
Aboriginal children and young people in Out of Home
Care deserve an education system that sees them, supports them, and celebrates
who they are. VACYPA is looking for a passionate Project Officer to make that
happen.
As Victoria’s peak body for Aboriginal Community
Controlled Organisations, we work at the heart of self-determination influencing
policy, elevating Aboriginal voices, and driving real change for children and
families.
This role puts you right in the middle of that
work.
What you will do
·You will build understanding of the Out of Home
Care Partnering Agreement across member ACCOs, government agencies, schools,
and education stakeholders.
·You will facilitate forums, co-design culturally
grounded resources, and ensure the Aboriginal community-controlled sector’s
voice is always in the room.
·And you will translate complex policy into
practical outcomes with community, not for them.
Who we’re looking for
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants
only.
You bring a genuine commitment to Aboriginal
self-determination and the child and family services landscape in Victoria.
You know how to build trusted relationships across
government, ACCOs, schools, and peak bodies, and you know why those
relationships matter.
You’re organised, a strong communicator, and
comfortable working both independently and as part of a close-knit team.
Experience with Aboriginal organisations or
communities is essential.
Qualifications in community services, social work,
education, or project management are a bonus but not a dealbreaker.
Why VACYPA?
Our values, self-determination, empowerment,
excellence, culture, and leadership aren’t just words. They shape how we work
and who we are.
You will be a part of a passionate and driven team
that’s deeply committed to community-led change and the futures of Aboriginal
children across Victoria.
