As a Non-Executive Director, you will contribute yourÌýexpertiseÌýto the strategic direction, governance, and oversight of WSMRC helping us grow our impact across Western Sydney.Ìý

The Board of Western Sydney MRCÌýoperatesÌýwith a strategic focus, placing emphasis on leadership, strategy, and policy, rather than day-to-day operations and activities. The board’s efforts are concentrated on guiding the organisation’s overall direction and community impact.ÌýÌý

What You’ll DoÌý

As a Non-Executive Director, you will:Ìý

  • Contribute to theÌýstrategic directionÌýand long-term sustainability of WSMRCÌý
  • ProvideÌýgovernance oversightÌýin accordance withÌýACNC standards and director dutiesÌý
  • Support soundÌýfinancial managementÌýand risk oversightÌý
  • Champion the interests of theÌýcommunities WSMRC servesÌý
  • Participate inÌýboard meetingsÌý(approximately 6–8 per year) and relevant sub-committeesÌý
  • Act as anÌýambassadorÌýfor WSMRC within your professional and community networksÌý

We are actively seeking board members with a provenÌýtrack recordÌýof experience in governance, either through current board roles or with credentials in one or more of the following key areas:ÌýÌý

  • Strategy development and assessment:ÌýHelps shape strategy and checks progress against community need, fundingÌýrealitiesÌýand sector change.Ìý
  • Corporate governance:ÌýUnderstands director duties, good governance, board roles, ACNC obligations and committee structures.Ìý
  • Risk management:ÌýIdentifiesÌýkey risks and supports practical oversight of mitigation,ÌýcomplianceÌýand organisational resilience.Ìý

  • Policy and regulation:ÌýUnderstands government, funding and social policy affecting migrant and refugee communities.ÌýÌý
  • Legal:ÌýOffers legalÌýexpertiseÌýin governance, contracts, employment, migrationÌýlawÌýor regulatory obligations.ÌýÌý
  • HR / people and culture:ÌýÌýBrings HR, workforce planning, industrial relations or people and culture experience in community settings.ÌýÌý
  • Aged care:ÌýUnderstands aged care, CHSP, My Aged Care reforms and culturallyÌýappropriate serviceÌýdelivery.ÌýÌý
  • Business development, corporateÌýsponsorshipÌýand fundraising:ÌýSupports revenue growth through grants, partnerships, sponsorships,ÌýphilanthropyÌýor fundraising.ÌýÌý
  • Marketing and media communications:ÌýBrings marketing, media or multicultural communications experience, including crisis and issues management.Ìý
