About the Fellowship Opportunity

We are offering FRANZCR qualified Radiologists the opportunity to undertakeÌýa dedicatedÌýInterventionalÌýRadiology trainingÌýcommencingÌýFebruary or August 2027.Ìý

This fellowshipÌýprovides an ideal opportunity for thoseÌýseekingÌýto develop broad procedural confidence and competence in interventional radiology. It also serves as an excellentÌýfoundation forÌýthose wishing to pursue further subspecialty training, including futureÌýAdvanced InterventionalÌýfellowship opportunitiesÌýand would provide an excellent foundation for those wishing to pursue consultant positions in Interventional Radiology.Ìý

RadiologistsÌýwith an interest in working towards the EBIRÌý(European Board of Interventional Radiology)Ìýqualification are encouraged to apply.ÌýÌýThe fellowship offers exposure andÌýprocedural experience that mayÌýassistÌýcandidates in progressing towards EBIR requirements, and support can be provided to helpÌýfacilitateÌýthis pathway.Ìý

Fellowships are available as 6 or 12-month programs, with part-time arrangements considered.Ìý

The hybrid opportunity combines:Ìý

  • 2–3 days per weekÌýInterventionalÌýFellowship trainingÌý
  • 1–2 days per week Consultant Radiologist dutiesÌý

FlexibilityÌýregardingÌýFTE arrangements, fellowship/professional developmentÌýallocationÌýand rostering structures (including part-time or 9-day fortnight style arrangements) may be considered.Ìý

Optional opportunities for interstate collaboration and travel exposure may also arise throughout the fellowship, though participation is notÌýrequired.Ìý

Fellows may also be considered for permanent Consultant Radiologist opportunities within Radiology SA, subject to workforce requirements, at the conclusion of your fellowship.ÌýÌý

Fellowship Experience & Exposure

Fellows will gain experience in RANZCRÌýbasic and advancedÌýprocedures including:Ìý

  • Image-guided biopsies (ultrasound- and CT-guided)Ìý
  • Drainage procedures (deep and superficial abscess/collection drainages,ÌýtunnelledÌýascitic and pleural drains)Ìý
  • Vascular access procedures (Permcath andÌýInfusaportÌýinsertion)Ìý
  • Basic interventional oncology proceduresÌý
  • Musculoskeletal injections, including the full breadth of spinal procedures andÌýrhizolysisÌý
  • Gastrostomy and enteric access proceduresÌý
  • Nephrostomy insertion and exchangeÌý
  • Exposure to advanced procedures like PTC andÌýembolisationsÌý
