The Hospitality and Events Department operates a variety of venues within DUSA, with the aim to provide the students with the finest quality, best value products and services, served in a stimulating and well-maintained environment. The role of Hospitality and Events Supervisor involves staff management and training, ownership over their venue and its stock, with a dynamic and flexible approach to their role to deliver high standards of service for the customer experience.ÌýÌý

About the Hospitality and Events Team

Ìý

The Hospitality and Events Team provides a wide range of opportunities – from the set-up and delivery of an event, to welcoming the customers and promoting our events, to looking after customer safety and working within the food and beverage areas of our operations, to taking on projects to increase student engagement and enhance student experience.ÌýÌý

You will be joining a versatile team that looks after the customer journey from beginning to end, and that puts student experience at its core, with roles working across the organisation.ÌýÌý

The Role

Ìý

  • To act as a representative of the Hospitality Management Team by taking ownership of your venue, contributing to its success, and helping develop it.Ìý
  • Problem Solving, decision making and effective planningÌýÌý
  • To operate in a fast-paced environment, overseeing different areas whilst maintaining quality and attention to detail.ÌýÌý
  • To take responsibility of daily financial goals from an operational capacity, i.e. stock management, staff management and target performanceÌý
  • To communicate instructions and delegate tasks to team members, training and developing staff on shift, seeking guidance from the Duty Manager if more in-depth training is required.ÌýÌý
  • Managing general Health & Safety of the venue, reporting incidents/near misses, following DUSA documentation procedure including daily/weekly paperworkÌý
  • To prepare and serve food & drinks in line with House Rules, ensuring licensing compliance is adhered to.ÌýÌý
  • ÌýTo assist staff from other departments if required and any other duties that may reasonably be expected by the Duty Manager.ÌýÌý
  • To provide a consistently welcoming and friendly service within all areas of work at DUSA for customers.Ìý

The Person

Ìý

As a Hospitality and Events Supervisor, we will be looking for you to have a friendly positive attitude, be able to take initiative and maintain a strong work ethic throughout busy shifts.ÌýÌý

As the needs of the organisation are so diverse, we require our staff to be dynamic and approachable in various situations.ÌýÌý

As a supervisor strong communication and the ability to motivate is key to ensure the smooth operating of a venue and its team.ÌýÌý

Leadership qualities, including accountability and the ability to operate autonomously, are vital as you would be responsible for your team and the venue, with support from management.ÌýÌý

Finally, we require our staff to be flexible regarding working hours as we operate throughout the year in many different spaces and times.Ìý

Qualifications/Knowledge/Experience

  • Previous Bar, Coffee and Barista experience desirable but not essentialÌý
  • Customer service training or experience desirableÌý
  • Leadership experience beneficialÌý

Ìý

Hours of Work

ÌýVariable hours basis – Rota basis –no more than 20 hours per week for student applicants only, to avoid compromising academic commitments, unless an exemption is granted.ÌýÌý

Ìý

There will be a requirement to work weekends and evenings.ÌýÌý

Pay

ÌýThis is an hourly paid role with no guaranteed hours, and you will be paid:ÌýÌý

Ìý

  • £12.71 per hour for all normal shifts.ÌýÌý
  • £12.95 for all Hospitality Supervisor shifts.ÌýÌý

ÌýNo additional payments or allowances and no contractual entitlement to overtime.Ìý

Ìý

Holiday Pay

12.07% holiday pay (accrued on all hours worked), paid monthly.ÌýÌý
